From Laura Dolson, your Guide to Low Carb Diets
Do you ever get disgusted with science reporting in the news? Studies seem to contradict each other with regularity until many people throw up their hands and decide to ignore it all. This week we look at two areas where researchers stepped back to take a look at the whole body of science in an area - and found that the results went against "conventional wisdom". Moral: don't be too quick to jump on a bandwagon. Have a great week! Laura

Does Red Meat Cause Colon Cancer?
It's pretty common to hear about how bad red meat is for us. One of the most commonly-repeated "facts" is that eating red meat raises our risk of colon cancer. A new study carefully reviews the studies about this and analyzes them as a group. I use this opportunity to talk a little about how to view science related to health issues as well.

Time to Stop Being Afraid of Saturated Fat
But doesn't red meat have a lot of saturated fat, and isn't that problem? Let's revisit a study from earlier in the year which looked at the research which studied saturated fat and heart disease. Time to stop imagining that saturated fat is "clogging our arteries" - not true!

How Much Protein Do We Need?
What is protein? How much protein do we need? Is it possible to eat too much protein? These are important questions for people following a low-carb way of eating, who usually are replacing part of their carbohydrate intake with protein.

Living with Others who Eat Differently
Do you live with people who aren't following a low-carb way of eating? Here are some tips to help bring peace to the dinner table, and then feel free to share your own tips!.

From Paige Waehner, your Guide to Exercise
"Summer is over!" That is what one of my clients declared the other day when, for the first time in weeks, it was cool enough to open the windows. How rude.

I have heard a rumor that summer will, in fact end, but denial is a wonderful place to live (replete with sunshine and hot weather and lollipops) and I plan on staying as long as I can. In the meantime, many of us are finding exercise a bit tougher as summer winds down (or, in the Land of Denial, continues on and on without end), so I'm offering a few ideas if you find you're in a slump. Enjoy and have a great week!
