I often go by the guide put out by the Environmental Working Group when making my decisions, and they've recently updated their list. Summer's here - try a new vegetable this week! Laura | | When to Eat Organic There are lots of good reasons to choose local and organic foods, from soil quality to transportation costs to nutrient density to supporting local farmers. However, organic produce is usually more expensive, and many of us have to pick and choose where we spend our food dollars. Every few years, the Environmental Working Group compiles all the latest samples taken by the USDA and summarizes them into a list to let consumers know which produce has the most and least pesticide residue. Here's the latest list. | Time for a New Food Pyramid A new food pyramid will be revealed later this year, and I wrote (and spoke) an editorial for my public speaking group.
