From Laura Dolson, your Guide to Low Carb Diets
I'm very fortunate to be able to subscribe to weekly produce from an organic farmer who lives very close to me. But when I go to the store, there's always that choice of organic vs conventional. I often go by the guide put out by the Environmental Working Group when making my decisions, and they've recently updated their list. Summer's here - try a new vegetable this week! Laura

When to Eat Organic
There are lots of good reasons to choose local and organic foods, from soil quality to transportation costs to nutrient density to supporting local farmers. However, organic produce is usually more expensive, and many of us have to pick and choose where we spend our food dollars. Every few years, the Environmental Working Group compiles all the latest samples taken by the USDA and summarizes them into a list to let consumers know which produce has the most and least pesticide residue. Here's the latest list.

Time for a New Food Pyramid
A new food pyramid will be revealed later this year, and I wrote (and spoke) an editorial for my public speaking group. Needless to say, I think putting carbohydrates at the base has been a disaster.

Low-Carb Vegetables
A list of vegetables from the least to the most carbohydrate, with links to "carb profiles" including carb counts, glycemic index and load, nutritional information, and recipes.

Low-Carb Fruit
Same as above, only for fruit.
