From Laura Dolson, your Guide to Low Carb Diets
It's so interesting to me every year - in December not many people come to my site, and the lowest day (not surprisingly) is Dec. 25. Then on the 26th the numbers jump up, until Jan 2, which is usually the very highest day of the year. So this is the time to begin to welcome our new friends, and hope that you plan to stick around! One of the best places to go is our Discussion Forum where you will get lots of support for your journey. Just click on one of the links to the right, or from the "Discuss in my Forum" link on every page on the site towards the upper right. Have a great New Years - Laura

Happy Low-Carb New Year!
Do you have favorite or traditional foods to celebrate the New Year? I have a few ideas, but feel free to add your own!

Getting Started on a Low-Carb Diet
Would you like to see the end of 2011 with a lighter, healthier body? Getting off to a good start is crucial to achieve this! There are lots of resources on the site to help you (for some of them, check the tabs at the top of this newsletter). Here is some advice on how to use them wisely.

How to Get Through the First Week
There's no doubt about it - the first week of a low-carb diet is a big adjustment for your body. It has to convert from using mainly carbohydrate for energy to using fat. Here's how to make it through to the big rewards at the end!

Low-Carb Cooking Videos
Sometimes a new recipe can seem daunting, but seeing it being prepared in front of your eyes lets you know that it actually wouldn't be that difficult.

Stress has many causes, effects, and management options. This newsletter brings you information on stress from several different angles, from a range of sources: About.com Guides, researchers, and other readers like you! See what grabs you and helps you create a life of greater peace! Also, feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone who may enjoy it. The next time you hear from me will be in 2011--may it be a wonderful, transformative year for you! --Elizabeth P.S. If you want more stress resources between now and then, you can always get a daily dose from me on Facebook or Twitter!

Blog Carnival: "Stress And..."
Have you been to a blog carnival before? If so, you know how interesting they can be, and if not, you should check out something new here! Here's a sampling of stress-related blogs from my colleagues at About.com Health. I love the different angles they cover, and you may find something here that really speaks to you. (Also, if you want more of these, please tell me via the comments section. If you want me to create blog carnivals with other stress bloggers or if you want to be included in a future carnival, please let me know that, too.)

Resiliency Research: What We Know
Here's a collection of research studies on what contributes to personal resilience in the face of stress. You can skim the document to get the main points of each study, or get further information and resources for each one. You can also share what makes you personally resilient in your life.

Stress and Health Research
The blog carnival (above) illuminates several ways that stress can impact health. Here's even more information! As with the above resource on resiliency research, this one allows you to skim for the key findings of each study, or find more information on each, and find ways to use this information in your life to increase your health. Make 2011 a healthy year for you!
