Poll: How Do You Low-Carb?
A few years ago I did a poll about how people approach their low-carb eating. Now I've posted a new one, and I'm curious to see how the landscape may or may not be changing. Do you follow Atkins or another published popular plan? Or one of your own? Vote in the poll and tell us about it!

Kate Middleton Adding Carbs to Gain Weight
I'll admit I got a kick out of this one - Kate is trying to regain some weight she's recently lost so she can fill out her wedding gown. Her mother is trying to do the opposite - both by changing the carbs they are eating, but in reverse ways.

Low-Carb, High Fiber
Have you heard that low-carb diets must be low in fiber as well? Don't believe it! Find out all about fiber in your diet, and then check out this list of low-carb high-fiber foods.

From Paige Waehner, your Guide to Exercise
Too often, when it comes to weight loss, we spend a lot of time on what we haven't accomplished - either that, or we downplay what we have accomplished. For example, I had a client who lost a few pounds and, when I tossed confetti in the air while doing my happy dance, she said, "Okay, so I lost a few pounds, but look at how fat I still am?"

Clearly, I need to work on my happy dance moves.

We all do that from time to time, but I'm convinced that celebrating success is much more motivating than punishing yourself for real or imagined failures. To that end, your challenge this week is to celebrate your successes, big or small...every single one. Got out of bed? Success! Put on your workout clothes? Success! You get the point. Whether you celebrate with a happy dance is totally up to you.

Celebrate Your Success
When I see my clients each week, I hear a lot about what they didn't do and, sometimes I'm amazed by the things they say. For example, one client... Read more

Vote: How are you doing on your resolutions?
It's hard to believe, but January is nearly over and it's a great time to check in with yourself to see how things are going with your workouts. I'm mentioning this because I'm already noticing a little drop off at the gym...Read more

How To Manage Stress

From Elizabeth Scott, M.S., your Guide to Stress Management
Have you decided that you want to relieve more stress in your life, but don't know where to begin? Or you've made some healthy changes, and aren't sure what else you need? Here you'll find plenty to help: a basic-but-complete stress relief plan, tips for busy people, reader recommendations, and a poll. You can also get the latest updates and inspirational quotes on the Facebook Page About Stress Management. Enjoy your week! --Elizabeth

Stress Relief 101: A Simple Stress Relief Plan
Come to this site looking for different ways to relieve stress, and you'll find a huge selection of techniques. They all work, but how do you know which techniques to use, and when? If you don't already have a cohesive stress relief plan that works well for you, let's take a step back and look at the big picture of stress relief.

8 Stress Tips for Busy People
It seems in recent years being busy has become the rule rather than the exception. If you feel busy and stressed, and don't have a lot of time to work stress relief into your schedule, you may end up feeling tired and lethargic or overwhelmed and plagued by chronic stress. Clearly, stress relief is important even for busy people. The following are ways to get more energy, relieve stress, and find extra time in your day--a must for busy people everywhere!

What Do YOU Find To Be Relaxing?
I love to hear readers' favorite tips for stress relief. Here are a few that other readers have shared. (Click the link above to read more readers' tips, or to share your own!)
  • "Knitting (or crochet). Working with my hands always relaxes me and I can do it almost anywhere. If I can I will go outside for a brisk walk in the park."--Shelly
  • "Listening to anything by JS Bach helps me relax. I listen to music throughout the day. Can't live without it."--Gwen
  • "Walk alone into a quiet or silent environment, preferably a desert, and listen to the sounds of birds, wind and the waves. Try to make the issue at hand the item to meditate upon and finally an answer will come."--Sarmos
