How To Manage Stress

From Elizabeth Scott, M.S., your Guide to Stress Management
September is a busy month for most people. Parents and kids from school age to college age are adjusting to new school schedules, which generally keep us busier. The days are becoming shorter again, and liesure time is dwindling. It gets easier to become too busy without realizing it, and that's when stress management can become more challenging. This newsletter brings strategies--some of them ones that may be the opposite of what you find yourself wanting to do when you're busy--that can help you to keep from being overwhelmed by activity, and enjoy life at a more relaxed pace. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, and the coming season as well! -Elizabeth Scott

Why More Sleep Is Especially Important For Busy People
Students, parents, and those hit by a more challenging job market (have I missed anyone?) are getting busier these days, and might be tempted to skimp on sleep to find some extra time in the schedule. (I know, I've been there.) Read on for convincing reasons why missing sleep is the last thing busy people should be doing, to learn why sleep is more elusive when you're stressed, and to see how you can get the sleep you need, even when you're stressed and busy.

How And Why You Need To Take A Mental Break
When you're busy, your thoughts may be racing from identifying, monitoring, and planning all the things you need to get done. Taking a few minutes to quiet your mind may feel like the last thing you have time for. (I understand; I've been here too!) Read why it's important for you to do so, and see how you can quickly quiet your mind and go on with your day, less stressed.

You Know What They Say About "All Work And No Play," But...
When you have a lot of work to do and a very full schedule, finding time for fun may not seem like a top priority. However, having down time and fun time can help you to stay more productive and less stressed. Learn more about the importance of fun, and how you can fit it into your day.

Tips For How To Fit In All These Important Activities
So while it's important to find time for sleep, mental breaks, and fun, finding time for these important activities can be challenging for those who need it most--busy people! Here are some time management tips and shortcuts that can help you carve out some time for these activities. Maintaining balance may be easier than you think!
