As I write this I am packing to head down to spend some time
with my family. 4 hours of driving, and a car full of kids.
(Oh boy, I need some Aleve...)
But before I head off I wanted to share with you some
observations I have made, and some predictions for 2012. No
I'm no nastradamus, but trends are very revealing.
So here are the big opportunities I see on the horizon...
but will be closing up quickly.
1) Right now Local Search is ridiculously lucrative and has
little to no competition. This is going to change in 2012.
Just recently Yelp! announced their 100 Million Dollar IPO.
This means there will be money flooding the local search
space, and the opportunities that exist today will shrink. So
start seriously looking at how you can leverage your
backyard to grow your business. I know I am.
2) Video is still wide open, but people are catching on
fast. Right now some 90% of all searches online do not have
videos being displayed. This is going to change rapidly.
This is an opportunity for easy traffic and rankings if you
jump on it now.
3) Sales letter type websites you will begin to see less
and less. Visa and Mastercard are on a warpath to stomp out
these types of sites. They just don't like them. So be
prepared to evolve, and test a lot of new formats in 2012. I
will keep you posted on what I find that works the best.
I will not be surprised if Clickbank doesn't starts to
force some changes in this area as well.
4) Amazon Kindle Store will grow even bigger with their new
device, and the opportunity to self publish will continue to
become increasingly lucrative. Publishing is evolving, so if
you have writing chops. Look to Amazon.
The good news is that the basics will still work, and will
always work.
Creating amazing content, delivery extreme value to your
marketplace, create unique and compelling offers and
differentiate from the competition. As long as you do this
no matter if it's 2030 you'll be in good shape.
Speaking of which did you know "Back To The Future 2" was
set in 2015? In 3 years we'll have flying cars and hover
boards!
If you are celebrating Thanksgiving, I hope you get to eat
lots and get to spend some time with friends and family. It's
a good time of year to look at what you are thankful for,
and I am thankful our paths have crossed.
I don't believe that happens by accident, and I am thankful
you open these emails, and that I can provide value in your
life.
I am truly blessed. No I don't have a Ferrari (but I don't
want one ;) I do have good health, amazing kids, a great
business, and lots of love. To me this is true wealth.
Money just gives you the freedom to enjoy these things.
Have a great weekend and Happy Holidays.
