I think Google+ is over-rated

I'll probably get some sh*t over this, but I don't think
Google+ is the end all be all to Google's new ranking
algorithms.

I don't think Google+ will replace Facebook.

or backlinks.

or change the way we do business in any significant way.

Will it have a minor effect... uhm maybe. Time will tell.

I am sure it will be calculated in some fraction of a
percentage.

Should you go out and reinvent your business based on it...
NO.

But here is really why I think it is over-rated. They will
never be able to compete with Facebook on the same level.

Here's why...

Facebook = Your Friends and Family

You simply cannot compete with that sort of association.

Facebook will be around a very long time due to this simple
fact alone.

You and I will use Google+ because we are geeks, we're
Googlers. We are not the average person. So you will see
business contacts using it to connect, but I doubt you will
ever connect with an old high school buddy, or a long lost
flame.

It won't be used in the same way.

But here's where I do see value in Google+. I like their
author attribution.

Here's a video explaining it in detail.

I've been waiting for my author attribution to show up for
awhile now, and it hasn't. So I am changing the way I do the
linking, as soon as I find out what's the deal I will send
you an update.

Are we on for lunch today? It's going to be a LIVE Jam
session.

Meaning we can just hang out and talk at the virtual water
cooler for lunch.

I do have some cool stuff to share about Niche Marketing
though.

Cheers,

p.s. If you do want to connect with me on Google+ here is
my profile. I haven't done much to it yet, but I'll get
around to it ;)
