From Christine Luff, your Guide to Running & Jogging
If you're feeling unmotivated to run right about now, you're in excellent company! I often hear complaints from runners this time of year because they feel like they're not making any progress and they're worried about being ready for fall races. When the weather is hot and humid, it's tough to judge your fitness level and you may get frustrated when you run one bad run after another. This week I have tips to avoid feeling discouraged or unmotivated.

How to Get Over a Bad Run
While it's tough to get through difficult runs, it's sometimes even harder to deal with the disappointment and frustration you feel after the run is over. Follow these tips to get over a bad run.

How to Boost Your Motivation
Don't let a bad run make you feel unmotivated to get back out there again. Try some of these ideas.

How to Avoid Burnout from Running
To help avoid reaching that point of burnout from running, try some of these strategies.

Cross Training for Runners
Participating in activities other than running, such as swimming, biking, or yoga, one to two days a week gives your running muscles a break and can also help revive your mental outlook.

Managing Stress

From Elizabeth Scott, M.S., your Guide to Stress Management
Facing a crisis is usually not something you feel prepared for; crises happen quickly and unexpectedly, for the most part. This newsletter brings information for those coping with a crisis, as well as those dealing with everyday stress and stress that falls somewhere in between. In invite you to share your tips and experiences where possible, scroll down for more 'featured articles', and I hope you have a safe and low-stress rest-of-the-week. -Elizabeth

From Everyday Stress To Crisis
I was recently reminded of how quickly things can change and how suddenly crises can be upon us, and compiled some crisis coping resources here. What major crises have you weathered? How did you cope, and what, if anything, did you gain in the end? Find resources and share your thoughts here.

Stress Management In Times of Crisis
When we face a crisis, we can use stress management techniques that we already employ in our lives, but in new ways that can help us relieve the greater levels of stress that we may face in a crisis. Here are some suggestions for crisis stress management that include stress management strategies you may already be using, but with a shift.

Readers Respond: Top Crisis Coping Techniques
Coping with a crisis is different from coping with everyday stress--our resources tend to be lower and our needs are higher, and we're not always thinking clearly because we're often overwhelmed. However, sometimes one or two techniques--getting some exercise, prayer, or counting blessings, for example--can make the difference between being overwhelmed by a crisis, or simply being challenged by one. What are your best strategies for coping with crisis? Share your thoughts, and see what other readers recommend.

Just a Bad Day?
After all this talk about crises, do you find that the worst you deal with is a run-of-the-mill bad day? Here's how to deal with even those. Here's how to turn a 'bad day' into a 'good day'!
